Biometrics Lock

One of my dream projects is automating our whole house. I’ve once seen an automated home while watching Discovery Channel and it’s been a dream project of mine ever since. One of the first things I’ll do is getting keyless locks for our doors. Now there are different types of keyless locks, you can use electronic cards, use combinations, RFID readers, etc.

The most advance type of keyless lock is Biometrics readers or fingerprint scanners. I especially like the biometrics deadbolt lock pictured above from axxisbiometrics.com. It’s not too “officey” or industrialized and it would fit well in any home. The only problem I see with biometrics keyless lock is that there’s a good chance your fingerprints will not be read since your body undergoes some changes. I’ve experienced this first hand in our fingerprint reader Time-in machine in our office. Now, I manually have to input my employee number and then have the machine read my finger in order for it to recognize my fingerprints. It’s a hassle really.

The good news is that you can input up to 50 users so even if it fails to read your fingerprint, the rest of the household can still let you in.
